Propulsion Engineer Job Category: Engineer

Primary Responsibilities

  • Apply propulsion modeling techniques to contribute to the conceptual and detailed design and development of solid rocket-based materials and components.

  • Perform concept performance assessments at the weapon level, including trajectory simulation and optimization.

  • Interface with BMDS system analysts for system level performance assessments.

  • Lead detailed propulsion system assessments.

  • Participate on and lead Integrated Product Teams to support all levels of new rocket motor development and new weapon deployment.

  • Develop test plan for and oversee subcomponent and component testing.

  • Participate in developing new Internal Research and Development (IRAD) ideas.

  • Develop written reports, briefings and other documentation to present to customers POCs

Requirements & Desired Skills

  • Active Secret security clearance or ability to receive and maintain clearance.

  • BS in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering. MS is highly desired

  • 5+ years of general experience with 2 years SRM. SRM nozzle analysis experience is highly desired

  • Familiarity with associated phenomenology, including materials, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, thermochemistry, heat transfer, and structures

  • Ability to travel both domestic and international

Aerothermal Engineer Job Category: Engineer

Our team is seeking an Aerothermal Systems Engineer to oversee technical aspects for programs pertaining to aerodynamic, aerothermal and other design and analysis services to assist in developing hypersonic thermal protection systems, advanced manufacturing methods, and advanced material development.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work in close coordination with program managers and project-based technical teams in highly dynamic environment

  • Collaborate with Govt and Industry technical counterparts to successfully meet program objectives

  • Lead and manage aerothermal analysis and testing efforts relating to hypersonic and high-speed vehicle design

  • Provide aerothermal engineering expertise to a wide range of systems including hypersonic flight vehicles, tactical weapons systems, and seeker window designs

  • Utilize test data and modeling and simulation tools to predict and measure high temperature material physics such as recession, char, and pyrolysis gases effects.

  • Generate aerothermal loads database for structural design and use modeling and simulation tools to perform thermo-structural analysis

  • Technology development in the areas of hypersonic aerothermodynamics, aerodynamics, boundary layer transition to support flight system design

  • Develop test methods and application of advanced aerospace material systems such as high temperature composites and ceramic matrix composites

  • Hands-on manufacturing process development, including tools or fixtures required to manufacture, integrate, and inspect flight and ground test hardware

  • Apply aerothermal engineering best practices to existing applications and new developments including test-driven development activities.

  • Develop written reports, briefings and other documentation to present to customer POCs

Our team is seeking a highly motivated full-time mechanical engineer to work with skilled team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment in development high temperature materials for hypersonic applications.  Candidates should be familiar with ceramic and composite materials, manufacturing processes and test methods.

Primary Responsibilities

Focus Areas: Mechanical Design, 3D measurement, Automation, Additive Manufacturing

  • Design novel prototype ground and flight test hardware and assemblies

  • Work closely with aerothermal engineering team to mature concept level design in support of transitioning to fielded systems

  • Implement Engineering and manufacturing best practices to facilitate integration and design maturation process

  • Generate engineering drawing packages and manage revision process

Requirements & Desired Skills

  • U.S citizen with active Secret security clearance or ability to receive and maintain clearance

  • BS or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university

  • 3-5 years industry experience with design, integration, assembly, and testing

  • Knowledge or understanding experience with design, integration, assembly, and testing

  • Knowledge or understanding of composite, ceramic materials

  • Proficiency in 3D CAD programs, preferably SolidWorks

    • Configuration management experience is a plus, preferably with SolidWorks PDM

    • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) in accordance with ASME Y14.5 standard is a plus

Our team is seeking a Structural Engineer to provide thermo-structural analysis and design of material and component experiments to aide in developing hypersonic thermal protection systems, advanced manufacturing methods, and advanced material development.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Conduct thermo-structural analysis, e.g., strength, stability, fatigue, and fracture safe-life analysis, etc., of hypersonic test articles and flight vehicles with a focus on fiber reinforced ultra-high temperature composites

  • Collaborate with aero-thermal engineering teams to conduct coupled and uncoupled thermo-structural analysis

  • Support technical managers and project-based teams to meet program objectives

  • Work directly with Govt and Industry technical counterparts

  • Lead design efforts of test hardware and development of test plans for review by customer and test facility

  • Support execution of ground tests on advanced materials

  • Conduct post-test assessments of test data, report and present test results to customer, and validate material models based on generated test data

  • Compose and review technical deliverables, e.g., reports, presentations, etc.

 Requirements & Desired Skills

  • Active Secret security clearance or ability to receive and maintain clearance

  • Bachelor of Science (MS is highly desired) in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or other related field from an accredited university and 2+ years of related work experience; OR, an equivalent combination of technical education and experience
